Patiala, July 7: As part of the Punjab Government’s initiative to commemorate the 650th Prakash Purb of Sri Guru Ravidas Ji Maharaj in a historic and befitting manner, three mobile documentary vans were flagged off today from the Deputy Commissioner’s Office by District Planning Committee Chairman Tejinder Mehta, Improvement Trust Chairman Harpal Singh Virk and Additional Deputy Commissioner (Rural Development) Damanjit Singh Mann for their tour across the villages of Patiala district. Speaking on the occasion, Tejinder Mehta and Harpal Singh Virk said that under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, the Punjab Government has undertaken special initiatives to spread the message of Sri Guru Ravidas Ji Maharaj to every section of society. They said that, as part of this campaign, the three mobile documentary vans flagged off today will visit all villages across Patiala district. Mehta and Virk further said that through these vans, which were recently launched by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, the timeless message of equality, social justice, devotion and universal brotherhood preached by Sri Guru Ravidas Ji Maharaj will reach every corner of the state. They added that it is a matter of great fortune that people are commemorating the 350th Martyrdom Day of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji and now the 650th Prakash Purb of Sri Guru Ravidas Ji Maharaj. Tejinder Mehta said the initiative aims to ensure that every household, especially the younger generation, draws inspiration from Guru Ji’s vision of an egalitarian and discrimination-free society. He added that the campaign forms an integral part of the year-long programmes planned by the Bhagwant Mann Government to commemorate the 650th Prakash Purb. An amount of ₹100 crore has been earmarked for organising a series of events to honour the timeless legacy of Sri Guru Ravidas Ji Maharaj and to disseminate his teachings far and wide. Harpal Singh Virk said that Sri Guru Ravidas Ji Maharaj preached the welfare of humanity and the principle of equality among all sections of society, laying the foundation of an egalitarian social order. He envisioned an ideal society where no one suffers from pain or deprivation. He said that the Punjab Government, under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, is paying a true tribute to the great Guru who cherished such a noble vision. On the occasion, Additional Deputy Commissioner Damanjit Singh Mann said that specially designed LED-equipped mobile vans will screen a 30-minute documentary based on the life, philosophy and sacred teachings of Sri Guru Ravidas Ji Maharaj in all villages of Patiala district. Among those present were District Trade Commission Member Nirmal Jhaneri, AAP District Social Media In-charge Sumit Takeja, Manish Garg, Chairman of Block Samiti Patiala Rural Gurvinder Singh Gobind, Block Samiti Member Shalinder Singh, Youth Wing President Karan Singh, Manpreet Singh, Chashpinder Singh, Labh Singh, Sukhmeet Singh, Block President Hem Raj, Surjit Guru Dakala and other dignitaries.
