CHAIRMAN, MARWAHA INAUGURATED IN-SITU REMEDIATION PROJECT AT BHULANA

Patiala, 20.06.2020(Dharaledar bureo), Chairman, PPCB, Prof. S.S Marwaha, inaugurated the first of its kind in the State, “In–Situ remediation project” at Bhulana draininKapurthala. Punjab Pollution Control Board has developed the low cost model of in–Situ remediation of Bhulana based on combination of bio-remediation and phyto-remediation enhanced by Nano Bubble Technology, so as to treat the wastewater. Bhulana drain carries wastewater of 27 colonies near village Rawalbeside wastewater of village Rawal, which eventually converges into HolyBein near Village Hussainpura,Distt.Kapurthala and thereby deteriorating the quality of water of Holy Bein by discharging untreated wastewater of said residential areas. Prof. Marwaha informed that this project will help in improving the quality of water of Holy Bein. M/s KBK Environ Infrastructures Ltd. Chandigarh has extended the support to provide Nano Bubble Generator for oxygenation of wastewater. Ms. DepitiUppal, IAS, DC Kapurthala- Er.KruneshGarg, Member Secretary,PPCB- Er. G.S Majithia, CEE Jalandhar and Sh. Rahul Chaba, ADC-cum-Commissioner, Municipal Corporation, Kapurthala were present during this inaugural ceremony. Er. Harbir Singh SEE, Jalandhar- Er.S.S Matharu, XEN and Er.Kuldip Singh XEN were also present beside the officials from other departments. KruneshGarg, Member Secretary informed on the occasion that the Hon-ble National Green Tribunal has directed the Urban Local Bodies in the State to undertake the in–Situ remediation of the drains, where STPs are yet to be installed, to improve the water quality. He also informed that after successful commissioning of this project, the same shall be replicated for in–Situ remediation of other drains of the State carrying untreated wastewater.
