Amritsar, June 9: The Punjab Government, under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, has announced a special project for the cleaning and restoration of the sacred Sarovar at Bhagwan Valmiki Teerth Sthal. Addressing a press conference, Advisory Board Chairman Bal Jogi Pragat Nath said that ₹3.74 crore will be spent on desilting the Sarovar, adding clean sand, and carrying out related development works. The tendering process has been completed, and the work is set to begin shortly. He further informed that development projects worth approximately ₹17.72 crore are already underway at the pilgrimage site. These include restoration and polishing of the main temple, repair of pathways and pillars, renovation of congregation halls, accommodation facilities, installation of new furniture, air-conditioning systems, fire safety infrastructure, and expansion of sewage treatment facilities. AAP Rajasansi constituency in-charge Sonia Mann stated that no effort would be spared in the beautification and development of the revered shrine, emphasizing the teachings of love, service, and humanity associated with Bhagwan Valmiki Ji. Before the commencement of the cleaning project, sacred water from the Sarovar was ceremonially collected and preserved in vessels to be reintroduced after the restoration work is completed.
